Lonely Whiskey

 

Just a lonely cold night in Athens.  All the roommates are gone and its finally quiet.  Its been a pretty rough past few months for me.  I've lost my uncle, and my grandmother in the same week back at the end of November, and I have just lost an aunt (whom I regret I never got the chance to meet) and now another grandmother is in the hospital with some pretty serious stipulations.  In all of this loss, I can't help but be reminded of the first loss I had: my father.  I was never big on whiskey as a kid (bad Ben, I know), but with it being cold out and all these thought running through my head; and since it was my dad's favorite drink, I felt I should give it a try.  Surprisingly, its not too bad.  I thought about putting it on ice or putting the bottle in the freezer to chill it, but he never did so I figured I shouldn't either.  

It has been a while since I have posted, and if anyone ever actually sees this, or used to watch for new posts, I apologize. I am still stuck with the old Rebel Xi, but have just installed CS5 on my laptop, so I think I might be able to get back into the posting mood here soon.  

Yeah; I'd give almost anything to be right here, right now. Just got approved for my first credit card. Maybe I'll be there sooner than I thought.

Nah, not worth living in debt over... Or is it?

Well its been far too long since I have been to the beach, so i decided if I looked at pictures of the times I have went, it might ease the pain. FAIL

I need to get some money together, and find the time to get back soon. The beach is one of most photogenic places on Earth. Maybe that's why I am drawn to it so much?

Merry Christmas!

I know it has been a long time since I have updated my blog and I am sorry I have been very busy lately. With the changes in living on my own, attending the main campus of Ohio University, and now work over winter break; I have not had the time I would like to be out taking pictures. I would like to say that I will have more free time soon, but doubt it. I will take advantage of the opportunities I am presented with more efficiently this quarter.

In the mean time, I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season!!

Kayla & Teagan

Normally I don't photograph people because they are pains and they move. In my black and white photography class at OU-C, we were givin a portrait assignment. I need to tweek the contrast with some filters in the darkroom tomorrow, but its a good start.

I like using babies, because you basically tell the parents where you want them to be, and then tell the parents to make the kid happy. It is just your job to capture the times you think should be remembered.

I am taking a photography class in college, and it is a traditional black and white photography class much like the one I started out in high school with. While shooting some pictures for the project I was assigned, I saw a picture that I really felt like I needed to capture digitally as well. So this evening after class, I went back to the same spot and shot a similar shot. I feel that the image is much stronger now with it being in color, and with the shadow being in a different spot.

Florida... What can I say about Florida?

Well it was over 70 the whole time we were here and it only rained a few times, and only at night. We had one foggy day that ruined our beach time. So pretty much, it was the complete opposite of Chillicothe, Ohio. This is a shot from just inside the water's reach. I got down low as I like to do with a lot of my shots. This gives a neat angle that only the ones who get knocked down by the waves get to see. We are going out on a boat tomorrow, and it should be a nice day. I hope I can get some kind of good post out of it.

L.O.V.E

My sister asked me to help her with a Christmas gift. She wanted to spell the word LOVE with things found in nature. I told her I would help her(about a month ago) and I waited until now to take them. The L is two sticks stuck between rocks in a creek. The O is an old hay bale that is in a field. The V is a tree next to the creek. The E is an old fence in the woods.

Airplane Ride

My Uncle Greg said he needed an excuse to fly, well I wanted to give him one. With the leaves changing colors and the weather being as nice as it has been the past two days, I wanted to take advantage of this and get some pictures from the sky.

Leaves and Water

I was wanting to go to the creek near my house today to get some pictures of the sun setting in the creek. I ended up getting there too late... From what I have here, it doesn't seem like too much of a waste.. I especially like the black and white picture at the top.

I do not have any clue why it has taken me so long to put a picture of Mari and I on here. Maybe it is because I never had one of us that I personally took. This is one that I took while setting the timer on the camera so I could be in the picture.

Baby Jackson

I was out in the good ole village/town/settlement? of Bainbridge this evening to see my wonderful cousin Allison, whom I haven't seen in such a long time. My other cousin Lib was there too and so was her little chunk(Jackson). I didn't get my camera out of the car early enough to get some more pictures like I had wanted, but I am sure there will be many more opportunities to get some good pictures of him as he grows up(as if the kid needs any more pictures of him). Just kidding Lib, keep taking all those pictures; Mari loves to look at them.

Fall is Here

Well with Fall here and Winter on it's way, I am going to try my best to not be lazy and go capture some of the beauty of southern Ohio. The Fall Festival of Leaves is this weekend, and today is my last day of classes for the week, so I hope to get out and start shooting. Saturday we also have a chance for SNOW? This should be a fun weekend to shoot!

Pool Side Shot

Well I was just looking through more of the pictures I have on my laptop of my trips to Brazil, and I just kept coming back to this one. I am not completely sure what it is, but there is just something about it that I like a lot.

Brazilian Sunrise

Every morning Mari wakes up at 5:15 to get ready for school. She wakes me up around 5:30 to have breakfast with her. I sleep in their livingroom, but since she is the first one in her family to wake up, I go back to bed in her room when she leaves so I can sleep in a little longer. After breakfast, I went and laid down in her bed while she straightened her hair and did her makeup. She leaves the lights on until she leaves and then shuts them off when she is ready and tells me goodbye. Well normally I can go right back to sleep, but this time the bright orange of the sun rising had completely filled the room. Her white walls became a florescent orange. I immediatly grabbed my camera and took off for the balcony of her apartment. This is what I came back with.

Mais Brasil!!

I haven't had many chances to travel away from her apartment this winter due to her being in preparation school this year. Its ok though, I am fine here. The only thing is that I see the same scenery every day. I am not getting tired of it or anything, It is just that I like taking a lot of pictures and I feel that I have already taken enough of what i see every day.
